It is held at the "El Batel" Auditorium in Cartagena. The semi-finals and final are held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Carnival respectively.
In the Semifinal, five Chirigotas qualify for the Final. The following prizes are also awarded in the Semifinal: Best Original Music, Best Chirigota Costume, Best Staging, and Best Lyrics .
On the day of the Final, the five qualifying groups perform twice, vying for the five prizes established in the competition. It is one of the most anticipated moments of the Cartagena Carnival; seeing the Chirigotas at the "El Batel" Auditorium is an experience that everyone who tries it wants to repeat.
In 2003 our competition achieved regional status. And in 2018, it achieved national status.
